sti wheels, which is cool. leg was 5x100, so unless they did the hub swap those are the 1 year only STI 5x100 wheels, which can garner $800 back of that absurd $2200 asking.

as much as I like a legacy GT... 2k is the best they’re going to get *after* the engine swap

Once upon a time I was shopping for an outback XT, and there were a surprising number of ads like this

All that needs to be done is the entire engine swap, no big deal!

Not without center caps that is.

NBD, would have done it but didn’t get around to it.

Was noticing recently that Legacy’s are not common on the road anymore, it seems the outback of that era got the inevitable engine rebuild while the legacys got scrapped

Good eye. Still a $500 car at best in my book.

They don’t sell many anymore. Who want’s a sedan when you can have a lifted wagon.

With only common hand tools

Beca use the unlifted wagon looks 100% better

non running, average condition paint, dented body, mid-project, missing parts, unknown interior condition, only 2 pics, not a desirable model.
agreed.
In colorado any subaru in any condition starts at $1000. I suspect in Montana you are right on the money at $500

My buddy had an '09 GT sedan, it was a total lemon... Transmission went kabloowee at 140k miles.

I am confused. Here in Japan the Legacy (of that era) which gets a GT designation has the scoop in the hood. I can’t access that Facebook page because of geo-restrictions - Does it mention changing the location mechanical bits in the ad? Or did a non-turbo Legacy get the GT designation in the USA?

A 2001 US spec legacy GT has a non turbo 2.5 liter engine. I don’t think it was until 2005/2006 that the GT got the turbo 2.5. The turbo model has the hood scoop. It’s a bit of a joke really. The Impreza 2.5 RS was basically a WRX without the turbo motor. All show and no go.

It being the transmission is ironic

2.5L.. huh. Thank you for the info.
I didn’t pay any attention to Subaru until after 2015 so all I knew was the STI/WRX. When I moved to Japan I found I could get a 00-08 Legacy fairly cheaply, but everything is a 2.0L engine. Well, at some point the 3.0L six could be gotten, but the road tax is fairly high.
I’d think the way to go with this car would be to find a 2.0L turbo engine to drop into it. At a much lower price obviously.
